This month, our team had the pleasure of sitting down with one of our highly valued team members to talk about life and business. Tabitha Angel is more than an employee to us, she is everyone’s cheerleader and greatest inspiration. She is a mother, a businesswoman, and a friend. It is our pleasure to introduce you to her.
What is your name?
“Tabitha Cheryl-Louise Angel. Tabby is my office nickname or Mama Bear.”
What is your role in the company?
“My unofficial title is Ms. Personality, and official title is Marketing and Advertising Specialist for Jacobs’s Marketing Solutions; as well as a Leader, and as of January 2018 will be a Leader with Leaders for JMS.”
Where are you from?
“I am from Galveston, TX, but I was raised in Rochester, NY.”
What were you like as a child?
“I was very talkative, social, athletic, and I loved people and places. I have a very caring nature and a motherly personality. I love to lead and help.”
Were you involved in any sports as a kid?
“I cheered for 11 years for school and competitions. This environment within cheerleading taught me to have no fear of being in the spot light or public speaking. It helped me grow mentally and understand that teamwork accomplishes goals and builds strong characteristics with integrity and social networking.”
Did you have any idea you would end up in this field?
“I had no idea I would end up in this field. I went to Alfred State College to become a veterinary technician.”
Tell us about your college years.
“At Alfred State I did a lot of community service with local farmers, worked at the Alumni Call Center, as well as in the book store and gym. I also started coaching competitive cheerleading in 2002 when I started college at Alfred State and coached for 7 years.”
What did you do before joining the Jacobs Marketing Solutions team?
“I worked for Paychex Inc., in Rochester, NY as a National Sales Representative for 8 Years. From 2005-2013. I achieved 6 conference trips through reaching 150% of my numbers/quotas. I achieved National Sales Representative of The Month over 30 times. I also worked for March Construction from 2000-2014. I ran a crew of 10-15 manual laborers, doing anything from hardwood flooring, roofing or any basic general construction work needed depending on the time of year. I was also the office manager for March Construction from 2002-2012. I was also a promotional model for Wright Beverage out of Rochester NY from 2012-2014. I bartended for over 7 years in various clubs, sports bars, country clubs, and high-end bars. I worked for Estée Lauder as a counter manager for a little over a year in Magee, MS. I was also an employment counselor for Adcock Employment for 7 months in 2018, staffing for hundreds of local businesses in the Jackson, MS area.”
WOW, that is impressive! Within all of this, what is one life experience that has changed you?
“I started work and picked up responsibilities at a young age. My first job was when I was 14 and I never stopped working to make that money. As well as having my daughter, Izabella Ariana Arroyo. She is 12 and without her, my goal to be financially free would not be attainable.”
What would we not know by just looking at you?
“You may not know by looking at me that I am a Spaniard. My mother is Sicilian, and my father is Argentinian.”
When did you start with the company, and what do you remember about that day?
“I started with JMS September 7, 2018. My first thoughts were how endless the opportunity was and how it would all be on me 150%. I saw that to get to the point in my life I can say I am financially free, I need to take the opportunity and teach others how to accomplish the same. My first day at the office was amazing. It was very welcoming and family oriented. Everyone was ready to teach and train with open arms. I love our office atmosphere.”
How would you describe the culture at JMS?
“The culture at JMS is outstanding. Very family oriented. Without each other to help replicate what Jay and Chrissy have made as the foundation, we would not be as strong. We are a work family and hold each other up. The system is handed to each of us and we are held accountable to learn the system and teach it to others.”
What is something you have learned through this career?
“Something I have learned working for JMS is that this opportunity is merit based and what you put in is what you get out. I learned that I am very good at coaching and teaching, and how much I enjoy teaching others.”
What are your goals within the company?
“My short-term goals within JMS are to build my team and remain a consistent trainer and leader. I will continue to be the office cheerleader and assist anyone willing to learn as well as make that money. Long term I want to be an assistant Manager for JMS by May 2019. Another long-term goal is to be an owner and have a solid networking partnership with JMS; as well as Jeff Jean-Luis’s office by the end of 2019.”
Do you have any mentors inside or outside of the office?
“My mentors are amazing. My Mama Bear Pepper, Chrissy Heine, Darrius, Jordan, Jay Jacobs, Mike Epps, Jarquise Culley, Marquita, Zack, Kareen, Ashanti, Togo, Tierra, Brandon Windham and of course my Tommy Bear.”
What do you do for fun when you’re not working?
“When I am not working, I am still having fun with the work family, going to things like bowling, family nights and dinners, bonfires, movies and so much more. I also spend a lot of time with my daughter. She is also very much part of the JMS family.”
Thank you for all of your hard work Tabby. We appreciate you!
